Hello & Welcome to the new Classroom Mosaic

We are excited to officially announce the release of our new, integrated platform!

The transition to this new system has been long anticipated, and the time has finally come. We are excited to show some of the major improvements implemented with the new platform and provide a preview to a few features we will be introducing in the coming months.

TL;DR: A quick getting started guide.

Background

Over the past few years, we have been talking with and learning from educators across the country. In early 2017, we started using the feedback to begin designing and building the next iteration of Classroom Mosaic.

Over the last two school years, this system has been used to manage and perform evaluation processes, implement PBIS initiatives, and monitor coaching, among various other processes.

We view this new system as a platform, an Education Operating System, of sorts.

If you have been a Mosaic subscriber over the last few years, we would like to thank you for your support.

We designed this system for you. We hope this system will support you, allow you to support your staff, encourage the improvement of practices, and provide insights that lead to a stronger culture and higher achievement.

So, now to the good stuff…

Design

The first thing you may notice is that things look quite different. Please do not be intimidated by the visual changes. We strive to stand by our principle of simplicity.

Navigation

You will now find the primary navigation on the left-hand side of the screen. This is the core of the system and how you access all of the processes you perform in Classroom Mosaic.

Branding

You may have already seen it, but we have redesigned our logo. We hope it gives you that “get things done all in one-place” kind of vibe. We also have a new palette of colors you will be seeing across the site.

Walkthrough Observations

Walkthroughs are at the core of every Classroom Mosaic account.

We know you spend the most time using Classroom Mosaic during an observation which is why we want everything about observing to be simple and intuitive.

We spent a lot of time asking questions and listening to your feedback to use that to improve the observation experience.

We hope you love it.

Starting

• We reduced the number of clicks required to start an observation by 50% - from 8 to 4.
• Search was integrated to make finding teachers just a few keystrokes away.
• You can begin an observation from almost anywhere on the site by clicking the “Start” button at the bottom left. (It turns into the green plus sign when the navigation bar is closed.)

Observing

• Data is now saved in real-time - just like a Google doc.
• The sections of the observation are now listed on the top left for easy access to jump between them as needed.
• You can scroll all the way through the observation sections without having to click or tap an arrow.
• If you like observing with a laptop, you can now add a picture to your observation directly from the CM app on your phone.
• You can add multiple pictures at a time to an observation.

Completing

• Our new notification system streamlines overview emails so they are in the same format every time.
• Your feedback is highlighted just like before. When you leave something blank, it will be excluded from the email overview.
• The view after an observation is completed has been redesigned for easier reading.
• PDFs can easily be generated for archiving in personnel files.
• The comment thread is accessible anywhere on the observation.

Analytics / Dashboards

Now more than ever, you will be able to use your observation data to create meaningful professional development for your educators. We’ve designed the analytics system to be usable by everyone so don’t be afraid to try it out!

We can’t describe how excited we are about the possibilities and opportunities available. For several years we’ve had a vision of what could be and it is now coming to life.

You will be able to things like:

• Create dashboards with the metrics you are most interested in.
• Identify trends throughout your school(s).
• Track progress over time.

App

Just like this platform, our app has been completely redesigned. Our primary goal with the new app was to expand its capability to replicate the functionality of our website. Beyond observing you will be able to view your dashboards, find completed observations, and leave comments.

Performance and Security

Because we started this new platform from scratch, we were able build in many performance improvements along the way.

We have upgraded much of the infrastructure in order to create a quick and responsive system. Your time is valuable and you don’t need to be spending it waiting on slow, clunky systems.

We will also continue to provide industry-standard security so that your data remains only yours.

Going Forward

Our goal is to support you and make those “I wish” statements come to life. We will continue to add functionality based on your feedback.

In the coming months we will be making a number of updates to our app, analytics system, and dashboard capabilities.

FAQs

Does the old app still work?
Yes! The old app still works. The new app will be available very soon!

Is my observation data still available from previous years?
Absolutely. You can access your old observations by clicking the “Archived” button in the observations tab or on your profile.

Does the new platform cost more?
All current subscribers have been grandfathered in at the previous price!

How can I build or update my template(s)?
A template builder/editor is on the way, and will be out soon. Please send a PDF of your template or the edits you need made to support@classroommosaic.com and we will take care of it for you!

Can I upload my staff?
A teacher and observer import is in the works, but is currently not out yet. You can email support@classroommosaic.com with your rosters and we will import them for you.

What other processes can I perform on Classroom Mosaic?
Other clients implement their PBIS, triage, evaluation, coaching, and on-boarding processes with our platform. Fundamentally, Classroom Mosaic is extremely flexible.
