The teacher observation form is a tool used by instructional leaders in K-12 schools to assess and evaluate the effectiveness of teachers during classroom instruction.
The questions in the form cover a range of topics, including student engagement, teacher facilitation, conveying high expectations, drawing disengaged students into instruction, and student participation. The form also assesses the use of pre-assessment to guide student learning, the provision of rubrics or guides for learning targets and assessment, and the teacher's ability to attend to student questions and comments effectively.
Additionally, the form evaluates the teacher's implementation of assessment strategies during the lesson to check for student understanding, the provision of specific and timely feedback to students, and the teacher's assistance to students during quizzes or assessments. It also seeks evidence of effective teaching practices and the teacher's ability to adjust the lesson based on student feedback.
