The teacher observation form is a tool used by K-12 instructional leaders to assess and evaluate various aspects of a teacher's classroom environment and instructional practices. It is designed to provide a comprehensive overview of the teacher's performance in areas such as classroom setting, curriculum and instruction, student engagement, teaching and learning applications, and technology integration. The form is divided into different sections, each focusing on a specific aspect of the teacher's performance. These sections include classroom setting, curriculum and instruction, student engagement, teaching and learning applications, and technology. Within each section, there are specific questions that address key indicators of effective teaching practices. The questions in the form cover a range of topics, including the arrangement of the classroom to accommodate both whole group and small group instruction, the visibility of student work, the utilization of academic vocabulary, word walls, anchor charts, and journals, the posting of class agendas and learning objectives, and the presence of evidence of student engagement through talking, writing, investigating, reading, and listening. The form also assesses the teacher's instructional strategies, evidence of student learning, the percentage of student engagement and active learners, the teacher's activities during instruction, the utilization of classroom instructional materials, and the use of technology by both the teacher and the students.
