This teacher observation form focuses on the teacher's ability to lead guided reading sessions effectively. It includes questions about the clarity of the lesson's focus, the use of texts on students' instructional level, and the introduction of the lesson. The form also assesses the purpose for reading, the teacher's ability to listen to students and provide individualized support, and the use of anecdotal notes. Additionally, the form evaluates the pacing of the lesson, the connection made to independent reading strategies, and the wrap-up of the lesson. The form also includes questions about the use of designated workstations, the clarity of expectations for independent and small group activities, and the appropriateness of the time allotted for these activities. Finally, the form assesses the teacher's ability to gain the attention of the entire class quickly and respectfully.
