Mosaic
The teacher observation form is a tool used by K-12 instructional leaders to assess and evaluate the effectiveness of speech-language therapy sessions. The form is divided into several sections, each focusing on a different aspect of the therapy session. These sections include short-range planning of therapy, service delivery setting, type of speech-language disorder being treated, establishing and maintaining high expectations for students, using strategies that facilitate communication skills, instructional feedback, monitoring and enhancing communication, maintaining an environment that promotes communication, and managing the therapy setting.
The form includes a variety of questions related to the therapy session, such as the entry time, type of session, service/delivery setting, language disorder being treated, and whether the child is working on the goals specified in their IEP. The form also includes questions related to the teaching methods used during the session, such as lecture, demonstration, questioning/inquiry, problem-solving, reading for meaning, brainstorming, role-playing, peer-partner learning, and think-pair/share.
Additionally, the form assesses the therapist's ability to gather data and their method of data collection. It also evaluates the student's engagement and participation in the session, the effectiveness of the learning environment, the teacher-student interactions, transitions/routines/procedures, classroom management, and session closure.
Overall, the teacher observation form provides a comprehensive assessment of the speech-language therapy session and helps instructional leaders identify areas for improvement and provide feedback to the therapist.
